We are thrilled to share that the City of Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department (BPRD) in Bloomington, Indiana has won the Most Ingenious Award at the 2022 Bloomington Innovation Celebration for their launch in OuterSpatial!
BPRD has done an amazing job developing content, posting updates, and utilizing OuterSpatial’s advanced mapping system to provide its community with a comprehensive recreation-based mobile application experience. The organization has also used the app to post park job listings, volunteer opportunities, recreation programs, and educational content about indigenous plants and birds in the area.

The award was presented to Rebecca Swift, Natural Resources Coordinator, and Max Stier, ITS GIS Specialist, for their role in launching OuterSpatial for the Bloomington community. We spoke with Rebecca about joining the platform and she had this to say:
“City of Bloomington Parks and Recreation is thrilled to be a part of the OuterSpatial community! This mobile platform has allowed us to share information about our properties and engage with visitors like never before. Now users can explore detailed trail routes and points of interest that aren't always captured on standard map services. It's especially good for people who are unfamiliar with our properties and the programs offered by the Parks and Recreation Department. We can easily share updates on projects, offer curated outings, market upcoming events, and promote volunteer opportunities to the community using the various engagement tools offered on the OuterSpatial Manager interface. Whenever we've had issues with updating content, OuterSpatial's Support Team has always been quick to respond.”
Congratulations to the City of Bloomington on all of its success. We look forward to serving the Bloomington community for years to come!
